* The scenario is very good. Our players are participating in the international meets, including Asian Games, on regular basis and next generation is also showing good interest towards this game. Also we have very good talent in the rural areas and result would be more encouraging if we can provide quality training facilities to them.

TS: How is the response of parents towards this game?

* It’s very positive. Now they are even accompanying their children when they come for training. We are also getting good response from the different schools of the city which is a very good sign.

TS: We know that in taekwondo trainees earn different belt on the basis of their performance. Can you highlight us about the process of belt distribution?

* Yes, different belts are distributed to the players but they have to earn it after appearing in the examination. Beginners start with white belt. The next one is Yellow and it is followed by Green, Green 1, Blue, Blue 1, Red and Red 1. After achieving these entire belts one can appear for the examination to collect Black belt which extends upto 9th dan.

TS: Tell us about the difference between the two categories of taekwondo-Poomsae and Kyorugi.

* In poomsae a participants has to demonstrate different pattern of defense-and-attack style and on the basis of it the points are distributed by the judges. However Kyorugi is a contest where one participant has to fight against another.

TS: What is the ranking of Assam in the national level?

* Look. Once we are in a very good position. In the junior category we are still performing well in the national championship but in the senior category we are facing little problem as our players once join in jobs they start to represent their office in the national meet. So some time even it is really difficult for us to select the senior team but we are happy to see that our own players, representing different institutions, winning medals in the National championship.
