Thumping victory for Assam in Ranji Trophy tie

Ranjeet and Mukhtar demolish Uttrakhand

GUWAHATI: Terrific bowling from pacers guided Assam to a huge one innings-90-run victory over Uttarakhand in the Ranji trophy tie at Dehradun today. Ranjeet Mali took ten-wicket in the tie.
In reply to Assam’s first innings total of 294, Uttarakhand has bowled out 121 runs in the first innings and was forced to follow- on. Later, the home side collapsed paltry for 83 in their second innings.
Ranjeet Mali was in superb form and single-handedly demolished Uttarakhand’s first innings taking 6-24. In the second innings, the bowler collected another 4 wickets for 27 runs. He got good support from Mukhtar Hussain in the second innings who collected 6 wickets giving away only 15 runs.
Uttarakhand was never in the match when they started their batting yesterday. Only three batsmen scored a double-digit run and Mayank Mishra (52) was the top scorer.
Uttarakhand struggled in the second innings also and Assam needed just 35.2 overs to finish their second innings. This time, Unmukt Chand (41) was the highest scorer and only two other batsmen were able to score double figure runs.
With this victory Assam collected seven points from this game.
