Tripura Beat Assam in Santosh Trophy Opener at Agartala

GUWAHATI: Assam made a poor start in the Santosh Trophy Football Championship at Agartala today. The side lost the North East Group ‘A’ match to host Tripura 1-2.

After the barren first half, Assam took the lead through Ujjal Brahma in the 50th minutes. Tripura later came back strongly and scored twice to ensure full three points from the game.

Assam was reduced to ten men in the second half as one of their stoppers back Tupu Brahma was forced to go out from the field receiving second yellow card.

Assam in their second league game will face Arunachal Pradesh on September 24. Mizoram is the other team in the group.
