U-17 Dekwon School Football Championship Begins in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The U-17 Dekwon School Football Championship got underway in the city today. The inaugural function was held at the SAI sports complex and Arjun Bhiogeswar Baruah attended the function as a Chief Guest.

Other presents on this occasion were renowned footballer Gilbertson Sangma, Director and Joint Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Dharmakanta Mili and Partha Pegu respectively, Director of SAI Subhash Basumatary and former Deputy Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Pradip Hazarika. SAI Sports complex, Sarusajai Sports Complex and Nehru stadium are the venues of the meet where altogether 30 teams are taking part.

The results of day I: Barpeta bt Biswanath 2-1, Karimganj bt Lakhimpur 4-1, Kokrajhar bt Sonitpur 2-1, Darang bt Baksa 2-0, Dima Hasao bt Cachar 2-1, Sivasagar bt Kamrup (M) 4-3 (tie break), Karbi Anglong bt Dhemaji 6-1, Goalpara bt Hailakandi 2-0.
