Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA)  foundation day celebrated

GUWAHATI: Veteran Cricket Association of Assam (VCAA) celebrated its Foundation Day with a glittering function held in a city hotel on Saturday. Former stumper of Team India Sadananda Viswanath was the chief guest in the function which was also attended by several other dignitaries including MP of Rajya Sabha Biswajit Daimary.

The major attraction of the function was three special awards which VCAA handed over to former cricketer and organizer every year. This time former cricketer Parimal Bhattacharjee collected VCAA Life Time Achievement award while Rana Goswami, the former president of GSA, collected the Nurul Amin Sports organizer award. Nilimoy Choudhury Cricket Coach Award was handed over to RP Barooah. The best performers in the state team during the last season were also felicitated in the function.

Meanwhile Ganesh Tamuly, the chairman of the North East Cancer Hospital, who was also present in the meeting, made an important announcement to encourage the senior players of the state. Any batsman or bowler who will score a century or took five wickets in Ranji Trophy this season will receive Rs 25,000 each in the same function next year. There would be award for team also. If Assam win Ranji trophy this season the team will receive Rs 5 Lakh and if they finished runners up they team would be awarded Rs 3 lakh.
