We should work to develop skills: WV Raman

Our Sports Reporter
GUWAHATI: The head coach of Indian Women Cricket Team WV Raman took a few questions from the media persons just after the end of 3-match T20I series against England in Guwahati today. Here is the excerpt
Your comment on the team’s performance in the series?
Our performance was not up to the mark yet it was not a total washout in terms of the way we lost it. That’s heartening. This is a young side and will learn along the way.
Where the differences made?
Actually our cricketers need to develop their skills further. Once the development in terms of skills happen, then all other things come into play because tactically everybody is aware of what needs to be done, but tactics cannot be executed unless the technical base is strong enough.
What is the positive outcome of this series?
Overall, the bowlers have done a fantastic job in both ODI and here in T20I Series. Spinners did their job perfectly and even the fast bowlers were not bad in the series except a few phases. Our fielding too was exceptionally well.
Your comment on Mithali Raj’s batting position in the T20I team.
Actually Harman was not with us in the series. So we needed someone with experience in the middle order and it was the reason that she was sent at number four slot.
Do you feel a premier League T20 can help Indian women cricketers better?
Look all depends on good preparation. If a student taking an examination with good preparation he is hoping to walk into the examination hall absolutely confident. I think it is more essential. Our young cricketers should work hard to prepare themselves first and if they can reach to the goal then other things don’t really matter.
