GUWAHATI: He bagged two gold and a bronze from the World Youth Archery Championship held in Poland recently. Archer Bishal Changmai during his recent visit to Guwahati shared the medal winning moment in the World meet and his earlier days of career in a discussion with The Sentinel. Here is the excerpt.

The Sentinel (TS): How did you come to this game?

Changmai: Actually during early days my favourite game was swimming and I regularly participated in the competitions. I have a twin brother and he too participated with me in the swimming and always finished ahead of me. I was so upset that one day I had decided to change the game.

TS: But why archery !

Changmai: During that time an archery camp was held in Bokakhat area, my native place, and I just went to see the camp. But the game attracted me and I joined. Later I was selected for SAI, Guwahati and thereafter I joined Pune Army Sports Institute.

TS: Share your experience in the World Youth Archery Meet.

Changmai: It's really a nice one. Initial stage we faced a little trouble because of the cold and a few other issues. But once the competition started I was completely focused on it and also able to win three medals which is really a great feeling for me.

TS: Tell us about your future plan.

Changmai: Now my first aim is to perform consistently in the senior category and at the same time I will target to book a berth as early as possible in the Indian team for the major events like Asian Games and Olympics.
