Imphal: 19-year-old Chanchui Khayi from Ukhrul district of Manipur bagged the first position in the first-ever virtual solo singing competition category at the K-Pop India contest. The contest was a part of Changwon K-Pop World Festival.

The first runner-up title in the solo singing competition was given to 20-year-old Vidisenuo Belho form Nagaland.

The annual event was organised by the Korean Culture Center India (KCCI) and sponsored by Korean brands – Samsung, Limese, and Innisfree.

For the selection process of the competition, the participants had to face three stages – the online audition, regional rounds, and the grand finale. Each contestant had to sing a song of their choice and record it in a video.

For the finale round, the participants were selected through 50% of Google voting and 50% of the likes received on their videos uploaded on the official Instagram page of KCCI.

Chanchui performed the song 'Eight' by IU Ft Suga and garnered a lot of appreciation and huge fans on the social media platform.

On winning the Korean singing contest, she said that learning the foreign language was not a difficult task for her as she grew up watching Korean movies and listening to their music. But the only thing she had to improve was the pronunciation and the perfect accent.
