Guwahati:

Amid the return of stranded citizens, Manipur has reported yet another positive case of the coronavirusa at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal, taking its tally to 26.

"A male (22) with symptoms of stuffy nose was tested last night at the VRDL, RIMS and found Covid-19 positive, He belongs to the group of stranded people coming nack from Delhi by road. He is now admitted in the covid care centre at RIMS. His condition is stable. All necessary control measures like contact tracing and containment are taken up", informed Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, the Additional Director and Spokesperson of the Manipur Health Department.

Mangang further informed that so far, the increase is occurring only in the group of stranded people who have returned from other parts of the country. "The public should not panic but should be prepared by adopting social distancing, hand hygiene using soap or sanitizer and wearing of mask", he added.

It is worth mentioning here that there has been a sharp spike in the number of coronavirus cases in the Northeast since the return of stranded citizens amid easing of restrictions. Assam has now reported the highest number of cases at 222, while Tripura state has reported 175 cases.
