5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Manipur, Tremors Felt all Over Northeast

Guwahati:

An earthquake, originating in Churachandpur district of Manipur measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale shook several parts of Northeast India earlier in the evening.

Tremors were felt in Guwahati city of Assam and also in other states such as Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram.

According to reports, the earthquake occurred at 8:18 pm in the evening at Latitude :24.4 North and Longitude: 93.7 East at a depth of 40 kilometres.

The earthquake occurred 15 kilometres west of Moirang in Manipur. According to preliminary reports, no damages to lives and property have been reported till the filing of this report.
