Arms & ammunition recovered in Imphal; insurgent arrested

IMPHAL: Based on specific inputs, security forces with Police launched a In a joint operation near the Yaralpat area in Imphal East, and apprehended a hardcore insurgent of UNLF -- a proscribed insurgent group on December 17, stated a release. The personnel also arms and ammunition from his possession.

The apprehended person is a self-styled captain and the area commander of Imphal East of the proscribed group. The recovered items included two AK-56 rifles, one 9 mm pistol, one point 38 pistol, 143 rounds of AK-56, 10 rounds of 9 mm pistol and nine rounds of .38 pistol.

In addition, bomb-making materials consisting of three electronic circuits, two dry cell batteries, one remote control device and a four-meter-long wire were also recovered.

The apprehended insurgent along with the recovered items was handed over to Porompat Police Station for further investigation, added the release.
