IMPHAL : A massive bomb blast has shaken the state of Manipur's Imphal district on 9th January, Monday. An Improvised Electronic Device (IED) was placed at the front gate of the residence of assistant registrar of National Institutes of Technology (NIT).

The episode took place in Kangjabi Leikangbam Leikai in Imphal. Manipur police officials informed that, a pit of approximately 10 foot diameter was created at the main entrance of the residence.

Certain damages were caused in the window panes of the registrar's house. Fortunately, no casualties or case of injury was reported by the blast that took place at around 11:55pm.

The assistant registrar of NIT, who has been identified as Leikangbam Dorendro interestingly had installed CCTV in the main entrance of the gate. A CCTV footage was extracted which showed two unidentified men arrived on a Honda Activa and had covered their face with masks.

The duo dumped a black polythene infront of the gate at 11:45 pm. They disappeared from the spot in a blink of an eye after placing the bomb. Later the blast occurred at 11:55pm causing destruction in the adjoining areas.

The Manipur police department after receiving the information rushed to the spot and initiated the investigation. Along with them, a team of bomb experts and forensic officials arrived at spot of incident.

Dorendro after the incident stated that, whoever has placed the bomb, any organisation or individual should confront if there has been a misunderstanding. If there's an issue it must be resolved in a peaceful manner. Causing threat and harm to the public can never be a solution.

Furthermore, he informed that no outfit has come in contact with him or threatened him until now. Such terrorist acts will not be entertained in the future, and one should restrict themselves from intentionally causing harm to innocent civilians, added the registrar.
