Covid-19: Manipur Reports 11 more 'Positive' Cases; Total 20

Guwahati:

Amid the return of citizens who were stranded in other parts of the country, the state of Manipur on Wednesday reported 11 more cases of the dreaded coronavirus.

According to the Government's Covid-19 Control Room, eleven persons -- six males and five males -- were found 'positive' out of 90 individuals who were tested today. The individuals were tested at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at the (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences) JNIMS. 9 of them are stranded people from Chennai while the remaining cases are from Guwahati and Delhi.

Additionally, the Government has informed that 3 symptomatic cases from the district hospital in Churachandpur are now admitted in the Covid-19 care facility at the JNIMS. "All necessary control measures like containment and contact tracing are taken up", the Additional Director and Spokespersons of the Health Department of Manipur, Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang notified.

Meanwhile, the Government has informed that public yet again that social distancing, regular use of face masks and washing hands with soap or using sanitizers are very effective measures.

There are 107,789 cases of Covid-19 in India at present, and as many as 3,316 people have died from the disease. The current recovery rate stands at 39.62 per cent and the Union Health Ministry said that 7.9 people per lakh population got affected by Covid-19 in the country.
