Imphal: Heavy rainfall has worsened the flood situation in the state as the water levels of major rivers flowing through Manipur are crossing the danger mark.

Landslides at several places following the incessant rain have put vehicular movement on standstill along NH 37.

As per reports, in the Jiribam district, the floodwater caused damage to around four houses while low-lying areas were submerged and services like electricity and transport too have been disrupted.

Following the flood, over 60 houses in Kamranga have been submerged and affected families have taken shelter at a relief camp.

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh has assured us that the state government is fully prepared to handle any situation that might arise out of floods.

''The government is monitoring the situation and relief is being provided, '' he added.

The flood situation in Assam has already turned grim as the number of affected people rose to four lakh. On the other hand, both in Arunachal and Meghalaya, landslides wreaked havoc by cutting off road connectivity to the hill states.
