IMPHAL: The Manipur Government has decided that all schools will resume regular classes on June 21. On Friday, the Manipur Directorate of School Education issued a directive in this regard. All Zonal Education officers working for the Department of School Education were told to follow the instructions in the notice.
The order stated, "Normal classes at all state-run schools will resume on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. All Zonal Education Offices under the Department of Education-Schools in Manipur are hereby instructed to implement the necessary measures in this regard.
According to the notification, classes for the remaining standards up to college level will resume gradually after June 21 taking into account the state's law and order situation.
On Monday, June 19, Churachandpur Medical College will start offering classes online.
An angry mob is said to have vandalised a BJP office in Thongju, Manipur, on Friday night. According to reports, a mob broke into the office and destroyed the furniture and posters with a hammer.
N. Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur, had announced plans to relax the curfew from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, allowing regular activities to gradually resume and the reopening of schools on June 21.
The Thoubal district education department has made the decision to offer education to the displaced students residing in the relief centres within the district while thousands of students are displaced and seeking shelter in the relief camps.
According to representatives of the Education Department, the May 3 ethnic violence in the state has caused the displacement of about 6,000 students of various standards.
Bashanta Singh, the minister of education for Manipur, previously stated that the department is taking action to ensure the welfare of the impacted students.
Additionally, according to Singh, coaching sessions will be held for the students residing in the relief camps by volunteer teachers.
He had stated that, provided there are seats available, the transfer of displaced students in Classes 9 through 12 to schools of their choice will be permitted.
