Imphal: 5th Edition of  River Bank Music Festival  Organised

Guwahati: The 5th edition of the River Bank Music Festival is organised on Saturday at the Yaiskul YAC Ground in the Manipur's Capital city of Imphal. The Festival is organised by The Leipung Wah Entertainment

The festival this year is carrying a strong message to reduce polluting river banks, reuse waste materials and recycle them for the sake of the future.

Director of Lepung Wah Entertainment and Co-ordinator of the festival, Tom Maisnam talking to media personals at Manipur Press Club said that only a few people are interested to understand the conditions of Manipur rivers running through Imphal and which people are responsible for creating havoc to the rivers by waste dumping.

This year, a new message of reducing the pollution of river and reusing of waste materials will be spread. The issues of dumping e-waste material everywhere is included to give awareness of its toxic effects. It is said that the people will be going to face e-waste issues sooner or later.

On the one-day festival, the organisers are putting up exhibition and campaign. It will further extend spreading messages through house to house campaign on the issues related to waste segregation and degradation of waste material. Centre for research on environment development (CRED) will join the festival

One of the most versatile Artist Sori Senjam & band will enthral the audience at the festival. Popular singer and songwriter Rachel Koireng aka "KOIRENG , Popular bands like SAM PAA, Jimbo Trio, Siyom Ensemble will be performing live in the Festival. Another promising musical band of the state "Sanahidak" will be making thier debut performance in the festival this year.

Last Year the Festival was held as a two day affair on April 29th and 30th at the Nongmai Shang Bhyagyabati Leikai, Imphal East. However a Storm had caused lot of damaged to the Festival venue last year forcing the organisers to cancel the Festival at the last moment.

Entry fee for the Festival this year is Rs 200 per person.
