Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Tamenglong Helicopter Services Launched in Manipur

Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Tamenglong helicopter services launched in Manipur on Monday. The chief minister of the state N. Biren Singh attended and inaugurated the helicopter service. The launch of helicopter services in the Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Tamenglong route comes after the earlier launch of the helicopter services in Imphal- Jiribam route. The ceremony took place at Imphal International Airport in the presence of other distinguished officials.

The Manipur CM, while speaking to media persons during the launching function, stated the significant role this helicopter service is to render to people. He said that this will certainly give relief for the conveyance of the old aged people and patients who can now choose it for fast and easy travelling.

The CM also said that the state government is ready to launch helicopter services wherever necessary. He further announced that the government is planning to launch the same at Senapati, Ukhrul and Churachandpur.

Moreover, there was another new announcement on ‘(flying doctors) air ambulance service’ as well which will newly be launched by the state government within one and half month. With the implementation of this fast medical system, the chief minister ensures that all sorts of inconveniences faced by the people residing in interior areas of the state will be ended from now on.

On the first day of launching the Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Tamenglong helicopter services, the chopper carried six passengers including one infant, (two women and three male). The chopper took off at around 10 am from Assam Rifle helipad. The fare between Tamenglong and Imphal was Rs. 2000 (two thousand only).

Apart from the launch of the helicopter services, Singh also spoke n another burning issue of the state, the recent case of looting at NH-37 by militant groups. He asserted, “The government will not spare anyone who took up unlawful activities. It is our duties to secure the public.” He stressed that he has already directed a combined team of state and central forces to launch a mass combing operation in the said area.
