Manipur: A 15-year-old who was allegedly raped by her father multiple times by her father for the past six years died and committed suicide.

As per reports by Hindustan Times, the victim consumed poison on July 31 which lead to multiple organ failures and finally resulted in her death.

She was immediately hospitalized at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal on August 3. She was then shifted to another private hospital as her condition became critical.

She went underwent dialysis for multiple kidney failures at the hospital after which she was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal on August 18 where lost her life around 9:30 PM on Sunday.

As per the co-convenor of a public joint action committee (JAC) which was formed to seek justice for the girl, the father of the victim had raped her multiple times over the last six years. Failing to bear the trauma, she consumed poison and stayed at home for three days without any treatment.

In this regard, a has been registered against the accused under section 305 (abetment of suicide of child) of the Indian Penal Code and section 6 (sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Following this, the accused was apprehended on August 5 and was taken into judicial custody.

Reports also claimed that after knowing about the same, an angry mob also destroyed the accused resident.

The victim in her statement reportedly said that she had approached the grandmother for help who instead of helping her covered the crime and threatened her not to disclose the same.

She then told the same to her close friends and also wrote it in her notebook.
