Imphal: In the wake of rising cases of COVID-19, the Manipur Government on Wednesday ordered the closure of all schools in the state.

In this regard, the state government issued a notification, according to which, the schools will remain closed till July 24.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh shared the notification.

"With the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state in the past few days, the Government of Manipur have directed all schools of the state to remain closed till the 24th of this month," Singh tweeted.

As per official data, on Tuesday, the state witnessed 59 fresh cases of COVID-19, while on Monday it recorded 47 cases.

The total cases in the state now stand at 66,135 while the state has seen 57,264 recoveries.

So far, a total of 2,120 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in the state, while the positivity rate stands at 15.6 percent.
