
IMPHAL: The Indian Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur Police, along with other security forces, recovered 35 weapons, ammunition, and other war materials during joint operations in different districts of Manipur, including Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Imphal West, Noney, Jiribam, and Kakching.
On January 19, 2025, a joint operation at Lungkhongjang ridge in Bishnupur district led to the recovery of a modified sniper rifle, pistols, single-barrel rifles, grenades, ammunition, and other war materials. The next day, another operation near the Khuga River and Dampi Ridge, on the border of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts, resulted in the seizure of more weapons.
This resulted in the seizure of various weapons, including a submachine gun, a .303 rifle, a pistol, a single-barrel gun, a country-made mortar, and a grenade launcher, along with grenades and ammunition.
In Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles intercepted an infiltration attempt along the Indo-Myanmar border near Yangoupokpi. An arrested person, who is said to be linked to the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) group, gave useful information during questioning. On the same day, in Noney district, a search based on intelligence led to the recovery of a country-made pistol, a .303 rifle, an improvised launcher, grenades, and other war materials.
On January 23, 2025, joint operations in Thoubal district at Ngamukhong Fungi Ching (Leingangpokpi) and between Heirok and Wangjing resulted in the recovery of weapons, including pistols, rifles, hand grenades, and ammunition. Two cadres of the KCP (PWG) group were also apprehended.
In Jiribam district, security forces searched areas between Zairawn and Uchatol and found a carbine, a single-barrel gun, grenades, and ammunition. On January 24, 2025, Assam Rifles carried out an operation between Gamngai and Pheijang in Chandel district and discovered pistols, mortars, grenades, a 1 kg IED, and ammunition. In Imphal West district, a search at Potsangbam Khullen Hill Range resulted in the recovery of a self-loading rifle, a carbine machine gun, and mortars.
On January 25, 2025, joint forces conducted operations in Kakching district and Sekmai (Tendongyan) in Imphal West district. They found weapons like modified sniper rifles, .303 rifles, pistols, airguns, grenades, and ammunition.
