IMPHAL: The autopsy reports of six Meitei family members whose bodies were found in the Barak River in the Jiribam area of Manipur on November 17 have revealed disturbing information.
Allegations suggest that Kuki-Zo militants abducted and killed them, and the findings reveal extreme trauma, several gunshot wounds, and terrible injuries.
The horrifying nature of the murders was brought to light by the post-mortem tests carried out at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) in the Cachar region of Assam. Laishram Lamnganba, a 10-month-old baby, was one of the victims, getting shot in the left knee.
In addition to numerous cuts, blunt force injuries to his skull and jaw, and fractured bones, he was missing both of his eyes. According to officials, he died three to five days before his body was found in a deteriorated state wearing a vest and T-shirt.
Telem Thoibi, aged 31, was another victim who was shot three times in the chest and once in the abdomen. A blunt item crushed her skull, causing extensive fractures and the loss of cranial membranes. She suffered significant brutal injuries to her forearms and had her eyes removed by force.
Among the deceased was Thoibi's daughter, Telen Thajanganbi Devi, who was eight years old. She suffered significant damage to her abdomen and died from a gunshot wound.
