Manipur CM Launches 'MOMA Market' for Delivering Vegetables at Homes

Imphal:

The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh, has introduced the MOMA Market mobile app, which enables residents to order fresh vegetables and have them delivered to their homes. The app is free to download from www.momamarket.com, and it will be available on the Google Play Store soon. The app's iOS version will be released soon.

Under the supervision of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur, launched the application to make fresh vegetables available for daily consumption and to reduce the distress sales of farm produce during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.

In order to avoid loss of vegetable produce and the spread of COVID-19, MOMA has been assigned to work in the area and channel farm produces to consumers via home delivery. MOMA will collaborate with Farmers Producer Companies (FPCs) to harvest vegetables from different farms.

It will then be transported to Sanjenthong and other locations for cold storage and warehouse. These bulk goods will be distributed to licensed selling firms for retail packaging. Finally, the consumer's MOMA Market order will be shipped to their doorstep.

Meanwhile, representatives of local clubs in Imphal East and Imphal West have been invited by MOMA to conduct home deliveries in their jurisdiction without violating COVID-19 SOPs. Owing to a shortage of capacity and funding, the organization has been unable to satisfy a high demand for fresh vegetables and fruits delivered to homes.

In another news from the state of Manipur, the Government keeping in mind the mental well-being of its residents has instructed all Chief Medical officers, medical superintendents, all private hospitals, and private ambulance services agencies in the state to mute the ambulance sirens.

On Tuesday, Manipur reported the addition of 624 new COVID-19 cases, taking the number to 40,683. With the addition of 20 more deaths, the total number of COVID-19 induced fatalities now stands at 612.
