Manipur CM N Biren Singh Reaffirms Commitment to Border Security and Drug Eradication

IMPHAL: At a public interaction programme held at Kumbi, Bishnupur district, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated that his government remains committed to protecting the borders of the state, detecting fresh immigrants, and tackling drug problems.

Singh said these initiatives are very important for the future of the state, "We are not going to deviate from our goal of fencing the border, identifying new immigrants, regulating the entry of foreigners through passes, and completely eliminating drugs from the state."

He further assured the people that these commitments are a promise from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the state government, vowing not to give up until such goals are met.

The Chief Minister also stated the role of the BJP in implementing the Inner Line Permit in order to safeguard the indigenous population, stating that no other political party has done so. He said, "Only the BJP can save Manipur and its indigenous people," criticizing other parties for their divisive actions.

Addressing the issue of internally displaced persons, Singh said that about 2,000 people have been allowed to return to safe areas, and more than 500 displaced persons have already been given employment. He described the recent conflict as initiated by armed groups attacking civilians and causing widespread fear.

Singh assured that the government is working to restore peace and security with the support of the central government, as he said that for the past four to five months, there has been relative calm in the region.
