Manipur CM N Biren Singh tests positive for COVID-19

Imphal: The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Singh shared the information via Twitter. He has requested everyone those who came in contact with him recently to self-isolate and get tested.

"I have tested positive for COVID-19. I request all those who came in close contact with me recently, to self isolate and get tested," Singh wrote on Twitter.

The total confirmed cases in Manipur is 21,636. A total of 18,334 people have recovered from the deadly virus in Manipur. There are 3, 084 active positive cases in the state. The fatality rate of Manipur is 2.5 per cent. The number of deaths due to COVID-19 is 218 in the state.

Manipur has seen a surge in the COVID-19 cases of the state in the last few weeks. The numbers have been rising at a steady but alarming rate.

There were complaints against the local people for not cooperating with the health workers in a few COVID-19 screening centres in Manipur. In Changangei Community centre, the health workers are working with the help of phone torchlight as the members of a local club have disconnected the power supply as they do not want the screenings to be done in that area.
