Manipur Democratic Alliance pushes for Manipur People’s Bill

IMPHAL: The Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA), an alliance of 11 political parties including the ruling BJP and its partners, on Tuesday, demanded early assent to the Manipur People’s Bill 2018. A delegation of the alliance on Tuesday met the Governor Najma Heptulla and submitted a memorandum drawing her attention to give assent to the Manipur People’s Bill 2018. The Bill is pending for the President’s assent. Even as the Manipur Assembly passed the Bill to protect of people of Manipur by regulating the entry into and exit from Manipur for non-Manipur people in July 2018, the Bill is yet to get the necessary assent from the President.The Bill is pending with the Rastrapati Bhavan, reportedly awaiting recommendation from the Union Home Ministry.
