The operation was launched in response to a tip-off, prompting the security forces to focus their efforts on Kangvai Bazar within the Churachandpur district. During the frisking operation, a stash of illicit substances was discovered concealed adjacent to the engine compartment of a hatchback. The vehicle was en route from Churachandpur to the Bishnupur district's Kwakta region.

Preliminary interrogations of the arrested individuals shed light on the intended trajectory of the contraband. It was established that the illegal substances were destined for transportation from Manipur to Assam, underscoring the inter-state nature of the illicit trade network. The individuals in question have been identified as Kabir Ahmed, a resident of Karimganj in Assam, and Md Abdul Barik from Bishnupur.
