Manipur: First North East Tourism Festival 2018, Kicks Off from November 15

Guwahati : Huishu Village in Manipur’s Ukhrul district is all set for hosting the first North East Tourism Festival 2018, starting from November 15. The three day festival will take place at the river bank of the village.

Informing about the festival, Managing Director of Ukhrul Hills Development Foundation (UHDF) and Mikpingla Industries (MPI), Achui Graceson Shatsang said that the three-day long tourism festival is being held in association with North Eastern Council (NEC). It will showcase musical nights from various bands, artists and DJs, and will also provide an opportunity to the visitors to explore the scenic beauty of Huishu mountain, river, and neighbouring ranges, he added.

Minister of Information and Public Relations, Th. Biswajit Singh will attend the inaugural function as chief guest while members of ADC Ukhrul, Yaronsho Ngalung, and Mark Luithing will grace the occasion as the Guests of Honour. The second day of the event will see the presence of General Secretary (Admin) of BJP Manipur Pradesh, Sarat Kumar as the Chief Guest and members ADC Ukhrul, Paothing Vashum and Themreishang Awungshi will be present as the Guests of Honour.

Shatsang also said that there will be fishing, mountain trekking, and rifle shooting and photography competition activities during the festival.

Moreover, director of Tourism Corporation of Manipur Limited, Sapam Ranjan have consented to attend the closing ceremony as chief guest, and it will be attended by ADC Ukhrul chairman, K. Dickson, former principal advisory of Brahmaputra Board, Sword Vashum and former MLA of Ukhrul, Somatai Shaiza as guests of honour.

Stating the purpose of organising the festival to the media at a Press Conference, Achui said, that the Ukhrul district can be made a tourist center of the country by promoting its beauty and uniqueness and converting it into a hot spot tourist hill station of the state by developing its tourism potential.

He further said they chose Huishu village river bank for the festival as the river is the confluence point of Nungbi, Huishu, and Challou river and is surrounded by beautiful greenery mountain peaks and is very refreshing for stay at river bank.

Besides, the festival will also be attended by celebrities including Kaiku Rajkumar, Sylvia Daphro, Timmi Rinpam Lunghar, Maxima Paonam, Tangkhul actress, Pamchuiwon Kashak and former Miss Manipur, Phapha Gachui.

The organisers will also provide means of transportation from Ukhrul Headquarter to Huishu River, which is about 50 km away from the headquarter towards Jessami NH 202. Tents will be available for rent and food at a low price.
