
IMPHAL: Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited the border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district today to take a close look at the operations of the Integrated Check Post (ICP), as shared in a statement from Raj Bhavan.
During his visit, officials from the Land Ports Authority of India gave the Governor a detailed briefing on how the ICP is functioning. Governor Bhalla also took the opportunity to meet with leaders from various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), offering a patient ear to their concerns and the difficulties they’ve been grappling with. He then met with business and community leaders from Moreh, including representatives from the Border Trade Chamber of Commerce, Tamil Sangam, Manipur Muslim Council, and Gurkha Samaj. During these interactions, they shared their ongoing struggles, particularly the significant challenges brought on by the suspension of cross-border trade since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Governor Bhalla then visited the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No. 1 and No. 2, continuing his tour of the area. He further traveled to Govajang Village, where the Commanding Officer of 25 BRTF briefed him on the progress of the ongoing fencing work along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Before leaving, Governor Bhalla took a moment and praised the hard work of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) officials and local workers.
