Imphal: In a bid to make Manipur a corruption-free state, the state government has decided to revive and strengthen the anti-corruption units of the state.

The decision was taken during a first cabinet meeting of the new second straight tenure of N Biren Singh on Thursday.

''Anti-corruption cell in CM's office will be revived and strengthened headed by an officer of the rank of Additional Superintendent of Police (SP),'' an official statement issued by the CM's secretariat.

''CM da Haisi Initiative (Let us speak to CM) will be transformed as part of the anti-national corruption cell, with toll-free numbers made available to the public to send complaints,'' the statement added.

It further said that the vigilance and anti-corruption department will act on actionable complaints received in the cell within a deadline.

''No person, including any member of the public, will be spared if found to be giving or taking bribe,'' the statement said.

Apart from this, the government also decided that there will be a five-day week for government offices, without affecting essential services.

As per the statement, the working hours will be increased and office will start at 9 AM.
