IMPHAL: Union Minister of Communications and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, reviewed extensively several ongoing projects in Manipur in a meeting with Manipur Governor, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at the conference hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal on April 17, 2025.

In the meeting, the Union Minister stressed that targeted efforts should be made in some key areas to enhance the state's development. These are handicrafts and handlooms, sports, tourism, international trade, agriculture—specifically palm oil cultivation, logistics, and improvement of national highways.

He also directed the officials to fast-track key infrastructure projects like universities, Manipur IT-SEZ, a mental hospital, and a maternity and child hospital.

Subsequently, Shri Scindia presided over a meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Sports for the North Eastern Region, in the presence of the Governor of Manipur.

The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, Additional Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, and Joint Secretary of the Department of Sports attended the meeting through video conferencing. The meeting discussed efforts to develop the region's sports ecosystem.

The Union Minister emphasized the need for the areas of talent identification, training and coaching, setting up coaching centres, development of public-private partnerships, infrastructure development, and boosting women's inclusion in sports.
