

IMPHAL: Manipur Police arrested a suspected member of the banned outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) (PWG) on December 31. He was identified as Irom Basker Singh (30) and was apprehended in Mantripukhri Bazar near Bangali Crossing in Imphal East.
The suspected cadre was allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting the public and businesses. During the arrest, the police seized a 9mm pistol with one magazine loaded with three live rounds, ammunition, a mobile phone, an ATM card, KCP (PWG)-related receipts, a two-wheeler, and cash amounting to Rs 500 and other incriminating items.
In a separate operation in Thongkhonglok village, near Khunjarok Nala in Bishnupur District, security forces found a large amount of weapons and ammunition. They found an SLR with a magazine, a.303 rifle, a 12-bore single-barrel gun, two 9mm pistols with magazines, an anti-riot gun, different types of ammunition, hand grenades, detonators, and riot shells, as well as tactical gear like hunting boots, belts, and pouches.
Search operations and area domination continue across fringe and vulnerable regions in the hill and valley districts to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, essential supplies were transported smoothly, with security forces facilitating the movement of 313 and 240 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2, respectively. Security convoys were deployed in sensitive stretches to ensure the safe passage of goods.
