Manipur : Mayengbam Satyajit Presented with the Best Publisher Award by MPPDU

Guwahati: Great Bolsheviks Revolution of 1917 was observed at Imphal by the Manipur Proletariat Peoples Democratic Union (MPPDU) today at Manipur Press Club. On the occasion Personalities from various fields were awarded for the courage and dedication to their works.

The publisher of Imphal Free Press, Mayengbam Satyajit was presented with the Best Publisher Award. News editor, Impact TV, Raj Nongthongbam; RTI activist, Wahengbam Joykumar, social worker, Telem Arun were also honoured with gifts and mementos.

Speaking on the occasion, Editor of Imphal Times, Rinku Khuman urged the people to discuss the present context of Manipur. People should realise that some of the capitalists are dominating the people and keeping them under pressure. Powerful persons put pressure on peoples’ work in the name of equality. And day to day livelihoods are being damaged for the sake of development, he said.

He further stated that as the political scenario has been changed, no one can raise questions. No one is able to tell the truth which is happening in front of them. It is not an easy task to face such capitalist class system. However, people should take a concrete form of decision to face such a system, he added.

He also spoke on the story of Great Bolsheviks revolution which resulted due to the change from proletariat to capitalist class, and subsequent destruction of different divisions of USSR.

Expressing his gratitude for the recognition by MPPDU, Impact TV Editor, Raj Nongthongbam said, This is perhaps the first time I am being honoured with an award without applying" and added that he had many time applied for award at DIPR but was never selected and he realized why one should applied for award, it is the authority that should select by recognizing the service.

Raj Nongthombam, , who also anchored many discussion programme at IMPACT TV further said that his argument and presentation were many times criticized by some people saying that I am supporting some group or political parties.

Talking about how the journalist should try to be the voice of the people and not work under anyone's pressure."During Congress Regime I did a programme Called Leikaigi Wakat and that was the voice of the people, when BJP came I asked question which the people want to know and not under pressure from anybody", Raj added

Presenting the voice of people is the duty of a journalist and he does not support any political party, he stated

MPPDU president, N. Meghachandra Meitei deliberated on October Revolution and its relevance to the present day in Manipur society.

The occasion was also attended by SSUM president-in-charge, Soraijam Yaima Meetei, SWA secretary, Sarungbam Bijayanty, PoFM secretary, Lalitabi Chanu.
