IMPHAL: Approximately 300 men and women from Manipur have become victims of fraud and are now stranded in a state of uncertainty at Noida, Sector 143, Uttar Pradesh.
In an interview with media representatives at the Manipur Press Club this afternoon, Wa-hengbam Shanta, president of the Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement (FIDM), revealed that a group of fraudsters lured several individuals out of the state with promises of high-paying jobs.
However, instead of providing jobs, the fraudsters instructed the victims to recruit more people and establish a network. Shanta stated that approximately 300 people from Manipur, who were promised jobs and taken to Noida, are now stranded in a state of uncertainty there.
He mentioned that these individuals traveled to Noida after spending between Rs one lakh and six lakh, all in the hope of securing jobs. Shanta added that these individuals are now facing accommodation issues, with no separate arrangements made for the women.
Shanta stated that FIPDM would submit a representation to the DGP regarding the issue and called on all the fraudsters exploiting innocent people to appear at the FIDM office within five days.
