Imphal: In the interest of the country as a whole and Manipur State in particular, the Naharol Lamjing Meira (NLM) has sent a memorandum to the president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manipur, requesting that the five BJP MLAs, including two Cabinet Ministers, face disciplinary action in accordance with the party's rules and the constitution.
The NLM informed the BJP Manipur president in the letter that was turned in on Wednesday about the state of affairs in Manipur and the suffering that the people had endured as a result of the 18-month struggle.
"It is a well known fact that violence provoked by the Chin-Kuki-Zo people since May 3, 2023, is a decade wise pre-plan which was converted into, action on May 3, 2023 epicentred at Churachandpur taking advantage of the so called Tribal Solidarity Rally for creation of their fantasized homeland Zalengam at the soil of Manipur", said NLM.
By issuing a press statement on May 12, 2023, the NLM claimed that the ten Chin-Kuki-Zo MLAs, including the five BJP MLAs Letpao Haokip (Minister), Nemcha Kipgen (Minister), Vungzagin Valte, Letzamang Haokip, and Paolienlal Haokip, had openly supported the illegal Chin-Kuki-Zo militants (narco terrorists) and called for Separate Administration, thus escalating the violence.
The NLM also recalled Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, who stated in the August 2023 session of the Lok Sabha that the current violence is a result of unlawful infiltration from Myanmar.
"In the meeting with the officials of the Home Ministry on October 15, 2024, they refused to talk with other Manipuri MLAs without the consent of their CSOs. Recently NIA has reported that there is foreign hand and the violence may happen in Mizoram and also spread throughout the North East", it added
Additionally, the NLM stated that the five BJP-affiliated Chin-Kuki-Zo MLAs are subject to disciplinary action under "Article XXV: DISCIPLINARY ACTION" for allegedly violating the "Constitution And Rules Bharatiya Janata Party."
