According to a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room of Manipur, the test reports of the three persons, all males hailing from Imphal West district, had returned positive from the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) at the state-run Regional Institute of Medical Sciences on Monday night. All the samples were collected on May 20.

The district wise break-up of cases in Manipur is as follows:

Churachandpur: 18

Thoubal-: 4 (1 recovery)

Kamjong : 3

Tengnoupal : 2 (2 recoveries)

Imphal East -2

Imphal West : 5 (1 recovery)

Jiribam : 1

Bishnupur : 1

Noney : 1

Kangpokpi : 1

Senapati : 1

Total Confirmed Cases : 39

Total Recovered : 4

Total Active Cases : 35

It is pertinent to mention here that another state in the Northeast, Nagaland, reported its fourth cases earlier in the morning today. Meanwhile, far outstripping the number of cases in the other Northeast Indian states, the coronavirus tally in Assam has now climbed to 595.

Meanwhile, total number of cases in India crossed 1.45 lakh on Tuesday. The country recorded more than 6,000 new Covid-19 cases, and over 146 deaths in the last 24 hours. So far, 4,167 people have died across India ever since the respiratory disease landed on its shores. At the same time, the Central Government has also imposed a lockdown restricting several activities, which has been in effect since March 25.
