Manipur Security Forces Arrest Two with 642g Suspected Opium in Kangpokpi

KANGPOKPI: In a significant operation, Manipur Security Forces on Friday, February 7, arrested two individuals, namely, Maniraj (35) and Yam Bahadur (49) of Bajagra village, 25 Miles IT Road, Kangpokpi District, along with 20 cases of Khaini containing suspected opium (Kani) weighing 642.09 grams in total, along with the weight of the cases, from the hill range of Lanka village, Kangpokpi District.

In another major operation against drug trafficking, a joint team of security forces intercepted a truck in Jiribam district, unearthing a huge consignment of cough syrup containing codeine phosphate.

The operation took place around 4:00 PM at NAKA checkpoints, where personnel of the SMPU of Jiribam District Police, under the leadership of Sub-Inspector A. Krishna Sharma, along with the 38 Assam Rifles and QATs of the 87th and 156th Battalions of the CRPF, converged to carry out the operation.

Meanwhile, Manipur security forces conducted search operations and area domination on Monday, January 3, in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts of Manipur. During the search operation, the following items were recovered: one 4 kg IED, one 2 kg IED, and approximately 35 meters of Cordtex from Moirangpurel Khunou Leikai under Thoubal Dam-PS, Imphal East District.
