Manipur: Security Forces Seize Large Cache Of Arms And Ammunition

The security forces seized large cache of arms and ammunition in Bishnupur and Thoubal district during targeted operations to curb illegal activities and enhance security in vulnerable areas.

IMPHAL: Security personnel in Manipur conducted concentrated search operations and area domination exercises throughout vulnerable parts of the state, particularly in the fringe areas of hill and valley districts.

The operation led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition in Bishnupur and Thoubal districts.

In Bishnupur’s Thongkhonglok village, near Khunjarok Nala, security forces unearthed a significant quantity of arms, including one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine, a .303 Rifle, a 12-Bore Single Barrel Gun, two 9mm Pistols with magazines, an Anti-Riot Gun, two INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG) magazines, and two INSAS Rifle magazines.

Additionally, they seized four No. 36 Hand Grenades, a detonator, anti-riot shells, 22 live 12-Bore rounds, hunting boots, and communication equipment such as Baofeng handheld sets. 

In a separate operation conducted in the Leishangthem Ikop Pat area of Thoubal district, the security forces recovered an Anti-Material Rifle (AMR) Sniper modified with a sight scope and magazine, two Single Bolt Action Rifles, three country-made 9mm pistols, one No. 36 HE Hand Grenade, four MK-13T Hand Grenades, several empty shell casings, a stun shell, tear smoke shell, tube launcher, and 12-Bore cartridges. 

The authorities have reaffirmed their efforts to ensure peace and security in the state, especially in violence-related areas. The citizens have been asked to join hands with the current operations that are underway to preserve law and order in the state. These operations are part of the greater process of regaining stability in the region.
