Manipur: Self-taught artist Zamminlun Singson wows at Taiwan exhibition; his painting sold for Rs. 3.7 lakh

Imphal: The world abounds with tales of talents who never needed any formal lessons to succeed in life. Zamminlun Singson, a renowned painter from Manipur, who says that he learnt his craft from 'Google University' has become the latest to show that sheer and unbounded talent will find a way to make its in spite of a lack of formal education.

Singson hails from Churachandpur district in Manipur, and is now making waves across the globe. Recently, a painting by this talented artist titled 'Peaceful Smile' (Size-73x53cm and Medium-Pencil on paper) was sold at whopping Rs. 3,74,688.67 at the Taipei International Art Exhibition. Incredible, isn't it?

After his remarkable achievement came to light, Singson said that he is self-taught and attended not a single class on painting in life. "Google is my University," the talented artist has proclaimed.

In another feather to his cap, Zamminlun has also emerged as the winner of the 2020 International Artist Grand Prize Competition in Taipei, Taiwan, which was organized by the Art Revolution in Taipei.

Throughout history, there have been numerous artists who have gained mastery over their crafts despite having no formal lessons.

One of the most influential artists of the modern era, Vincent van Gogh was almost entirely self-taught. Today, Gogh's paintings are some of the most highly regarded the world over.

In music, legendary guitarist Hendrix's left-handed string arrangements and crazy style were self-taught, as he originally learned to play on a one-string ukulele.

Similarly, David Bowie, who was one of the most versatile and talented musicians of the 20th century, learned to play piano, guitar, harmonica, bass, percussion, and even koto on his own.

Zamminlun Singson has now entered that elite club of persons whose talent has helped them touch incredible touch without guidance from anyone.
