Manipur: Tribal students' body calls for 48-hour shutdown from Sep 14

The All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has called for a 48-hours interstate bandh in Manipur from September 14

Guwahati: The All Tribal Students Union Manipur (ATSUM) has called for a 48-hours interstate bandh in Manipur from September 14 onwards.

The body has, however, exempted media and medical services from the purview of the proposed bandh, the union said on Wednesday.

As per a statement issued by ATSUM information and publicity secretary Micah Kamei, the bandh has been called in protest against the state government's failure to respond to the agreed charter of demands between the All Tribal Students Union Manipur, the All Naga Students Association Manipur, the Kuki Students Organisation general headquarter and the state government on August 13, 2018.

The ATSUM appealed to the interstate transporters and the public to "kindly bear and cooperate" during the course of the proposed bandh.
