Manipur women Agripreneurs bag awards

Guwahati: In the recently concluded National Agri-Business Entrepreneurship Conclave (NABEC 2019), two Agripreneurship from Manipur Ngayam Food and Green Biotech Eco-Solutions Pvt Ltd bagged first and second prize respectively in the Best Exhibition stall category. The Conclave was held between February 9-11 at Umiam, Meghalaya.

The agripreneurship was run by women entrepreneurs namely Khayiwon Shang of Ngayam Food and Geeteswori Yumnam and Asem Sundri Devi who runs the Green Biotech Eco-Solutions Pvt Ltd.

The National Agri-Business Entrepreneurship Conclave was organized by Agri-Business Incubation Centre of ICAR Research Complex for Northeastern Region, Meghalaya with an objective to build agri-business start-up Ecosystem in North East India.

The event was comprised of scientific deliberations, panel discussion, buyer-seller meet, exhibition and a special technical session on students in agri-business. The technical session has been organized for the students so that the resources available in the region could be utilized properly.

India is transforming its practices in the agricultural sector. Commodities are being turned into value added products and premium prices can be demanded from various retail outlets with the young and charged-up entrepreneurs joining the battle. It has been seen that young entrepreneurs are modifying their business-models and exploiting market opportunities to improve their lifestyles which is helping the entrepreneur and also encouraged the farmers to shift to a better world.

In the Agri-business conclave, more than 500 scientists, agri-business experts , agro-industries, students and farmers joined along with 100 entrepreneurs from different North Eastern states. Participants from other parts of the country have also joined the event.

All total 11 agripreneurs from different districts of Manipur namely Green Biotech Eco-Solutions Pvt. Ltd.(Imphal West), Holistic Enterprise (Imphal West), Tazei Foods (Imphal West), Ima Dairy (Imphal West), Grassroots Syndicate Producers Co. Ltd. (Imphal East), Ngayam Food (Ukhrul), Zingran Food (Ukhrul), Ruth Enterprise (Churachandpur), Apha Enterprise (Chandel), Mayanglambam Agro (Kakching) and Peter's Agro (Senapati) were sponsored by ABI Centre of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre for participating in the said event.

In-charge (ABIC) of ICAR Manipur Centre, Dr. S S Roy said that it is a proud moment for the state of Manipur that two women entrepreneur from the state bagged the top two positions in the event. This will inspire the other entrepreneurs in the state.

Roy further stated that agri-business incubation centre is constantly providing business incubation and technical support to such aspiring and budding agripreneurs.
