IMPHAL: At Moreh in Manipur near the Indo-Myanmar border, troops of the Assam Rifles discovered 23.4200 kilograms of illegal WY tablets in the early hours of Monday. These tablets were worth approximately Rs 12.60 crores on the black market. A defense statement said that at Dalpati Ground (next to Border Pillar 79) in Moreh, the Moreh Battalion of the Assam Rifles thwarted attempts to smuggle drugs across international borders.

The crew saw two suspicious people trying to cross the Indo-Myanmar border while on a normal area dominance patrol in Dalpati Ground by the Moreh Battalion. The people instantly dropped the sack when confronted by the squad and retreated back into Myanmar territory in the shadows.

"After a thorough search of the area, the plastic bag was found. 20 packages of WY pills totaling 23.4200 kilos were inside. According to the statement, the price of the seized WY pills on the foreign market is estimated to be Rs. 12.60 crores. According to the statement, the recovered materials were given to the Moreh Police Station for additional investigation and legal action.

Earlier this month, At the T Minou checkpoint near Moreh along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur, four accused drug traffickers were apprehended along with 2.15 kg of brown sugar worth Rs 4.1 crores on the international market.

According to an official, at around 1.30 am on Saturday, the troops of the 5th Asam Rifles prevented the accused traffickers from arriving on a Maruti Gypsy and a TVS scooter at the T Minou Check post near Moreh based on intelligence received from across the border.

Moreh, the final border town with India in the Manipur region, was where their cars were travelling when they arrived in Imphal. The brown sugar came in 50 soap caps, weighed about 2.15 kg, and cost Rs 4.1 crores on the international market.
