IMPHAL: The Young Leaders Connect is an annual conclave organised by the North East Leaders Connect. Hosted in Imphal this year, this event aims to bring leaders of different fields together, irrespective of their political and ideological differences. And to work towards the all-round development of the region.

The first edition of the event was held in Kohima in 2011 and since then it has become the ground for discussion for developmental activities. Development of local resources towards best utilisation by all the states is also emphasised here. And this year's theme is "Northeast India 2030: Towards India's Innovative and Sustainable Growth".

Addressing the gathering, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh mentioned that the Northeast region should become a leader in the economic growth of the nation, instead of being dependent on the centre. He also mentioned how the startup ecosystem of the state is helping to solve the problems of the region.

Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu and Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi were also present for the event. A new project entitled new NEW (Northeast-region Entrepreneurs' World) was also flagged off during the event.

The North East Leaders Connect is an organisation comprised of leaders from the political, business, research and other fields. The organisation is a dynamic community of like-minded leaders from the Northeast region of the country working in synergy with the aim to create a bustling economy, so that the region does not need to depend on anyone else in terms of economy, resources or infrastructure. Sustainable development and inclusive growth between the states is another key goal of this organisation.

Union Minister Amit Shah also arrived in Guwahati yesterday. As the chairman of the North East Council, he will be present for the 70th meeting of the same to be held in Guwahati from today. He will also be participating in several other events in the region ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections in Meghalaya, Nagaland and Tripura.
