ITANAGAR: The 12th National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), in collaboration with West Kameng District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), on Tuesday conducted a mock drill on earthquake preparedness at Shanti Deva Vidyalaya, Bomdila, the district headquarters.

Mock drill started with the siren blurring at 11.10 am and activating the incident response system of the district emergency operating centre headed by its Incident Commander-cum-ADC. After receiving information, all the support units and line departments such as NDRF, SDRF, Fire Service Department, Police Department swung to the spot, presuming an earthquake occurred at the school, an official report informed.

The rescue operation was conducted by the NDRF, Fire service, police and injured victims were immediately evacuated by the ambulance to the General Hospital after giving necessary first aid on the spot. The exercise concluded with the debriefing of Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki, ADC Sang Kandu, 12 NDRF Assistant Commandant SP Sharma and DDMO Tashi. Members of DDMA, head of departments, teachers, students and the public attended the programme, the report added.
