Dimapur: Governor RN Ravi addressed the Nagaland legislators' advent Christmas celebrations at New State Banquet Hall, CMRC in Kohima on Saturday.

He had attended the programme with his wife. In his speech, he reminded the legislators of Nagaland to be conscious of their responsibility of bringing peace to the people of Nagaland in true Christian spirit of truth and non-violence and be the blessed peacemaker.

Hailing Mahatma Gandhi as one of the disciples of Jesus, the governor recalled how the Sermons on the Mount touched Gandhi's heart and awakened in him the purity and power of Truth and Non-violence which became the cardinal principles of his personal and public life and liberated India from the colonial rule.

He emphasised on the "eventual invincibility of truth which could be temporarily eclipsed by the lies of vested interests but never extinguished."

Kethoser Kevichusa, winner of first Gordon Graham Prize for Naga Literature was the speaker of the event, said that peace was one thing that everyone was longing for at this juncture.

Kevichusa added, "Peace will never come to us unless we first forgive and make ourselves peace with the Lord Saviour Jesus Christ."

He also urged the gathering to forgive others in the name of Jesus Christ and let peace be in their midst taking the advantage of forthcoming Christmas.

On the occasion, Christmas greeting was delivered by Minister for Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, while the Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire, presented a special song.

Other highlights of the celebration included song presentations by legislators along with their wives, as well as by Harmonic Voices and MAK during the service.

State Chaplain, Reverend T.W Yamyap Konyak was the leader while Khyochano TCK was the pianist during the service.
