Aoleang Mini Hornbill Festival celebrated in Nagaland

KOHIMA: The Aoleang Mini Hornbill Festival 2019 on the theme ‘Enculturation’ was celebrated on Wednesday at Mon with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Noke Wangnao as the guest of honour.

Reminding that our forefathers had toiled and sweated while working in the fields for bountiful harvest, Rio called upon the gathering to value the importance of hard work and ethical earning.

Stating that every festival has its own unique significance and meaning, Rio emphasized on the need to preserve and promote ones’ own tradition, culture, indigenous games, varied food items etc., and pass them down to the younger generation. He stated that such festivals should be celebrated not just for enjoyment and merry-making but to preserve and promote.

Stating that Nagaland is a land of potential with rich tradition, oil and minerals, human resources and scenic beauty with pleasant weather for tourist attraction, he however lamented that such potentials are yet to be explored.

Extending his best wishes to the Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) in their attempt to set a Guinness Record on the ‘Largest Traditional Konyak Dance’, scheduled on April 5, he stated that setting such a record would not only bring fame to the Konyak community but to the entire Naga people, stated a DIPR release.
