Dimapur's Aunt-Nephew Duo Dead in Gurugram, Family Alleges 'Foul Play'

GURUGRAM:

Samuel Sangma, 23, was discovered dead inside his rented room in Gurugram under unexplained circumstances. His aunt Rosy Sangma had died a few days earlier in a Gurugram hospital ICU ward after being served 'ice cream' by the medical staff.

Samuel believed that his aunt died as a result of medical malpractice. Samuel was attacked while attempting to videotape the medical staff's suspicious behaviour, following which he was found dead in his rented space.

According to a social media video, Samuel was attacked while filming the video while questioning hospital officials. Samuel was discovered dead in his room the next day. Samuel's body, which arrived in Dimapur on Sunday, was put to rest at Tinglijan, a Garo hamlet.

Samuel's family in Dimapur, Nagaland, was last heard from on June 25.

Taken aback by the tragic news of the deaths of two family members, the bereaved's family accused foul play and wanted justice from the concerned authorities.

In a statement to the Nagaland Post, Samuel Sangma's father requested the investigating officer of the Delhi police and the O.C. in-charge to look into the case and bring justice to his son.

He also urged everyone not to circulate rumours and instead to lend their support and assistance to the family in their pursuit of justice.

According to the father, Samuel and his uncle brought Rosy to the hospital on June 23 early morning after she complained of discomfort in her left arm and leg. She was taken to the ICU of the Alfaa hospital in Gurugram's Basai Goan Sector-10.

Following treatment, he stated that the hospital personnel told him that she was normal and would recover. When the uncle learned of her improved health, he went out to eat, while the nephew was sent to buy medications. When they returned, the young man discovered that the medical personnel had been giving her ice cream.

Rosy died not long after, and instead of doing a post-mortem to determine the cause of death, the hospital arranged for a mortuary van to transport the body without telling the families present. According to the father, the cause of death was unquestionably "medical negligence."

Samuel's father stated that he and other family members attempted to reach Samuel several times but received no answer. Another surprise awaited the family when they learned Samuel had been discovered dead in his rented room. According to the father, the event was only brought to light when some of the friends informed the police and family members.

Samuel's father is adamant that his son did not commit suicide. He described his kid as a strong young man who had stayed behind to seek justice for his aunty's tragic demise (Rosy). He stated that there were no marks around the neck, indicating that the death was not the result of suicide. He did, however, claim that his lips were swollen and that he had many bruises on his forehead and torso.

The deceased's father expressed appreciation to the Naga Students Union Delhi (NSUD) and Sumi Students Union Delhi (SSUD) for offering to help the family.

The family, netizens, and social organisations have petitioned the authorities to investigate the allegations of malfeasance and bring those accountable to justice.
