KOHIMA: In the latest development the Enforcement Directorate has recently questioned Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio after over Rs 70 crore withdrawn for the construction purpose of a high court building that doesn't exist in the state.

However, the foundation of the building was laid in the year 2007.

The construction of the High Court building is yet to start but the government of Nagaland tillED Questions Nagaland CM for Withdrawing of Rs 70 for Nagaland HC Building 2018 has reportedly withdrew Rs 44.24 crores for electrification and water supply work. Report said that more Rs 22.42 crore was drew against the construction of bungalows for the judges.

The amounts were siphoned out between March 2009 and March 2017 through 18 withdrawals by Nagaland's Justice and Law Department.

The ED has questioned the CM last months at a military facility at Rangapahar in Dimapur.

After CBI filed two charge sheets in January last at special court in Dimapur of Nagaland, ED has started investigating the issues.

Construction works of all the other high courts in the Northeast, including Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur, which started simultaneously have long been completed and are fully functional since 2013.

Earlier, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday took into its custody Sehgal Hossain, the bodyguard of Trinamool Congress strongman and the party's Birbhum district president, Anubrata Mondal in connection the multi-crore cattle smuggling scam in West Bengal.

ED sleuths have taken Hossain's custody from the authorities of the Special Correctional Home at Asansol where he was already in custody following his arrest by the CBI. He was supposed to be in that custody till November 5.

Three senior ED officials arrived here from Delhi on Friday along with a court order that allowed the agency to take Hossain into its custody. Sources said ED has plans to take him to Delhi for further questioning. Officials said the quantum of property and assets of Hossian that have been assessed by the ED is not proportionate with his income as a Constable with the West Bengal police.
