Facilities for People with Disabilities are top priority in polling stations

KOHIMA: Commissioner of People with Disabilities (PwDs) Diethono Nakhro stated that her first priority is to see that implementation is carried out for accessibility of the people with disabilities. Speaking to DIPR while casting her vote at Science College (Phezou) polling station 8/29, Diethono said that she has taken over as the commissioner in the last part of January although she has been working with the State Government in regard to PWDs for quite a few years now. A proper office setting is required which, she said, is dysfunctional since no physical thing has come out as of now and therefore setting up of the office is her top priority, she stated.

Meanwhile, the DC and DEO of Tuensang, Mohammed Ali Shihab, along with the Expenditure Observer Deepak Zala and SP Bharat Laxman Markad visited almost all the polling stations within Tuensang Sadar-1 and Sadar -2. The PWDs voters were helped by the volunteered of students of St. John’s Higher Secondary School, Tuensang. The student volunteers also expressed their gratefulness to the district administration for giving them the opportunity to help the PwDs in such an important national activity.
