Naga Political Issue: Central Nagaland Tribes Council Threatens To Boycott Election

KOHIMA: If the BJP-led Central government is unable to resolve the political problem facing Nagas, the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has vowed to boycott the State Assembly elections. Notably, this year's state Assembly election is scheduled for the latter week of February or the first week of March.

The BJP-led government has broken its 2018 vow, according to the Nagaland Tribe Council, and its lack of "eagerness or responsiveness" to resolve the Naga political issue has affected public opinion as the 2023 Assembly elections are about to be declared. The council further asserted that the Centre is concentrating on the announcement of the Nagaland Assembly election rather than delivering on its commitment to a resolution.

The tribe council continued, "If such things are done by the Centre, then CNTC will be left with no choice but to go in line with Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) for abstaining from the state Assembly election." Additionally, CNTC stated that in light of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) government's inability to uphold its promises, it has reiterated its call for the installation of President's Rule in the state.

The UDA was also accused by the Central Nagaland Tribes Council of lacking transparency and failing to act against widespread extortion, which has caused a substantial increase in the cost of several goods that affects the general populace.

Furthermore, it drew attention to the misuse of public funds in the development of the Dimapur Multipurpose Stadium, the Sovima Cricket Ground, and the Kohima High Court Complex. These arguments led the CNTC to claim that under President's Rule, all such corruption could be stopped and exposed.

Resources claim that for many years, the Nagas were fed all kinds of make-believe and fantastical images of their destiny in the darkness of ignorance. They were completely enthralled by the propaganda that said everything in Naga society was irrelevant aside from politics.

Through their gun culture, anti-social and anti-national groups worked together to enslave the entire Nagaland populace by unleashing fear psychosis in their brains. Most individuals still hesitate to express the truth in public today. But the Nagas had to be given the ability to tell reality from mere dreams and filter the truth from untruth due to the dawn's inevitable approach and the daylight of rational comprehension.
