DIMAPUR: Youth organisations of Chümoukedima and Dimapur have strongly condemned the extortion demand of Rs. 50 lakh imposed on a notable Naga innovator and social entrepreneur Aolemba Longkumer. Jointly making a press statement, the youth leaders expressed anger over the NSCN (Khango) actions and requested immediate intervention for justice.
Longkumer's achievements at the state as well as national levels in promoting Naga handicrafts have earned him a place among the most respected figures and contributors to the community; hence, his recognition now makes him a target to the extortion demand, a move that the youth organisations have condemned as unjust.
According to the youth leaders, the NSCN (Khango) must promptly turn over the two extortionists to the appropriate authorities. The Ceasefire Supervisory Board (CFSB) and the Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG) have also been urged to step in and speed up the procedure.
In their statement, the organizations emphasize that the activities of the Naga Political Group, who claims to uphold the motto "Nagaland for Christ," contradict the Christian values, especially at this time of the festive season. The youth groups have vowed not to allow such an act to continue, indicating that the future of the Naga youth should not be at the mercy of the selfish interests of a few individuals.
The statement was signed by various youth leaders and organisations of Dimapur and Chümoukedima.
